IMPORTANT corrections to FY18 University budget instructions
Please see below for important information from the Budget Office regarding errors in the FY18 budget instructions:
Please find attached updated information for pages 7, 8, and 9 of the FY18 Compact and Budget Planning Guidelines-Academic Units, including updates to the following sections:
- Budgeting for Graduate Student Remission Charges; and
- Figure 1: Graduate and Professional Student Fringe Table.
As we discussed at yesterday's RRC meeting, the original instructions included incorrect rates for the tuition per hour charges for graduate and professional students. The attached revised rates include an estimated 2% tuition increase over the FY 2017 rates. Please contact Susan Cable-Morrison at 612-624-3393 or at cable003@umn.edu or me if you have questions on the attached instructions.
Thank you,

FY18 fee requests
The Budget Office released information on the FY18 fee request cycle, and there is a link below. The college deadline will be April 12th. This is a little more than our typical one-week cushion before the central deadline, because in the Dean's Office we plan to review the fees more carefully this year in light of our new collegiate guidelines on course fees.
I'll note the "tip" in the central document linked to below to submit a Rate Development Worksheet with each fee. This is particularly important/required if you are proposing a new fee. Any questions, please let Cathy Burke know, as she is the primary college approver for fees. Thanks, DJP
