RRC Meeting Summary -
April 22, 2011
Budget: It is unclear whether the legislature and
Governor will come to a budget agreement prior to the start of the fiscal year,
which raises the possibility of a state government shutdown. The University would not feel a government
shutdown like state agencies would, because the University has cash balances
and revenue sources other than state appropriations. The University could cash flow to meet
payroll and other necessary expenses during a brief government shutdown.
Cost share functions: Implementation of the mandate to bring
program-project functions into alignment on cost share strings has been delayed
indefinitely. For FY12 budgeting and
until further notice, continue to execute cost sharing in whatever manner meets
your business needs.
Kudos to central for reexamining this issue and a
willingness to explore other alternatives.
Hospitality Policy
update: The University hospitality
policy has been updated. A summary of
significant revisions is attached.
Use and Lease of Real
Estate: The Use and Lease of Real
Estate Policy has been updated (attached).
eProcurement System: The University is considering a new
eProcurement system that would provide a single, shopping cart style system for
all University supply purchases. There
is a central committee investigating this possibility, and there will be
opportunities coming up for users to provide input.
UFee: The University Fee is being combined with
tuition in FY12. This will not impact CSE
departments significantly, because all tuition and UFee revenue comes to the
college.
